1. The postman is an employee of the postal

 depart ment. His duty is to deliver letters, 

small parcels, and money orders. People 

anxiously await  the arrival of the postman.

 When the postman brings a letter or two, 

people feel jubilant . When he passes on 

without waiting at the door, people feel 

disappointed . 

2. The postman does a very important job. 

The function of the post office is 

accomplished finally by the postman. The 

function of the post-office is to deliver 

letters, money orders. parcels, etc. from one

 person to another, living far away. The 

sorters , the mall-runners, and the clerks do

 only preliminary  work. It is the postman 

who finally delivers  the articles to the 

addressees . 

The postman gets a poor pay. Yet, he does 

his work honestly. He is entrusted with 

a heavy sum for the payment of money 

orders and also with insured letters and 

parcels. The postman tries his best to 

deliver the articles to the right man. But 

sometimes he commits mistakes also. Then 

he is put to a loss. He has to make good the 

loss to the rightful claimant . Sometimes he 

makes over-pay ment. Then he has to make

 good the loss from his own pocket.

In the village post-office there is often a 

single postman who delivers letters, etc. 

twice a week. In towns, there are a large 

number of postmen. They have localities 

allocated to them. Even in the same 

quarters different postmen come at 

different times of the day. The postmen 

have their duties fixed. The postmen take 

immense  pain to find out the address of 

letters and deliver them to the right pee 

with great effort Sometimes they deliver 

the letters of one man to another wrongly 

3. The duty of the postman la highly 

responstive. The fate of large number of 

people depends on his functioning honestly,

 Hence, a postman ought to be very honest 

and consclen.

1. डाकिया डाक-विभाग का एक कर्मचारी है। उसका कार्य 

चिट्टी, छोटा पार्सल और मआनियोर्डर 

(moneyorder)बाँटना है। लोग उत्सुकता से डाकिया की 

प्रतीक्षा करते है। जब डाकिया एक या दो पत्र लाता है, तो 

लोग खुश हो जाते होते हैं। जब वह दरवाजा पर बिना ठहरे 

हुए चला जाता है तो लोग निराश हो जाते हैं।

2. डाकिया बड़ा महत्वपूर्ण कार्य करता है। आफिस का काम 

अंत में डाकिये के द्वारा ही पूरा होता है। एक व्यक्ति से दूर 

रहनेवाले दूसरे व्यक्ति के पास पर मनिआर्डर और पार्सल 

इत्यादि भेजवाना ही पोस्ट आफिस का काम है। छांटनेवाले, 

डाक ढोनेवाला और किरानी केवल पहले का कार्य करते हैं। 

डाकिया  अंत में पत्र आदि वस्तुओं को उन व्यक्तियों के पास 

पहुंचा देता है, जिनके नाम से ये चीजें भेजी जाती है।।

डाकिया बहुत कम वेतन पाता है। फिर भी वह अपना काम 

ईमानदारी से करता है। मनिआर्डर की भारी रकम जमा कराया

 हुआ पार्सल और पत्र उसके सुपुर्द किए जाते हैं कि उचित 

व्यक्ति को चीजे देने की चेष्टा करता है। परंतु कभी-कभी वह 

गलती करता है तब उसे घाटा होता है उसे सच्चे हकदार की 

क्षतिपूर्ति करनी पड़ती है। कभी-कभी वह अधिक रुपए दे देता

 है तब उसे अपनी जेब से क्षतिपूर्ति करनी पड़ती है।

गाँव के पोस्ट-आफिस में प्रायः एक ही डाकिया रहता है जो 

सप्ताह में दो बार पत्र आदि बाँटता है। शहरों में अधिक संख्या

 में डाकिये रहते हैं। उन्हें महल्ला बटा होता है। यहाँ तक कि 

एक ही मुहल्ले में विभिन्न डाकिये दिन में विभिन्न समय पर 

आते हैं। किया के कार्य नियत किए रहते हैं। डाकिया चिठ्ठी 

पानेवाले व्यक्ति को खोज करने में अधिक कष्ट उठाता है और

 अधिक चेष्टा करके उचित व्यक्ति को ही उसे देता है। कभी-

कभी वह एक आदमी का पत्र गलती से दूसरे को दे देता है। 

3. डाकिये का कार्य बड़ा ही उत्तरदायित्व का है। उसके 

ईमानदारी से कार्य करने पर बहुत से लोगों का भाग्य निर्भर 

करता है। इसलिए डाकिये को बहुत ईमानदार और विवेकपूर्ण 

होना चाहिए।
