1. Birth

Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru was the only son of Pandit Motilal Nehru. He was the worthy son of a worthy father. He was born at Allahabad on the 14th November, 1889. He came of an aristocratic family. He received his early education through -governesses and private tutors at home.



2.Education

When his family went on a tour to Europe, he was admitted to the Harrow Public School in England. He received education at Harrow and Cambridge. He became a bar-at-law in 1912. He returned to India and Joined the bar  at the Allahabad High Court.



3.Carrier

Though he joined the bar, his heart was not in the profession. He was destined to be a great man. He naturally inclined towards politics. He soon became a prominent figure in India. He was much loved and respected by the people that he was elected President of the Indian National Congress in 1929. 

He was elected President of the Congress many times. His entire  life was the history of India's fight for independent. dence. He served  the Congress for many years as its General Secretary. He was also associated  with various committees and conferences , He was the first Prime Minister of the Indian Union. He adorned this post till the last moment of his life.



4.Nature

Pandit Nehru was sincere  honest and dignified .He had wonderful capacity  for self-effacement and compromise His sufferings and sacrifices  have no parallel in history. The change from princely luxuries  to the doom  of a protracted jail life was a big change. His was the unique example of self-sacrifice , He had wonderful energy and ability . Even at his old age he made long whirlwind tours and attended to his work for hours together. He was a great scholar, and wrote a number of good books.



5. Conclusion

5. It was he who held aloft India's banner of Independence and led India to glory.
