1. I had often heard about Sonepur fair but I had never visited it. Last year I visited the fair with my friends. We decided (a किया) to cross the Ganges by boat. We reached Gandhi Ghat early in the morning. We saw a large number of people waiting for boats. We had to push our way through the crowd. We boarded a boat with great difficulty. After some time the boat left the bank. The boat was gliding slowly. We enjoyed the riverside scenery. The sweet music of the waves filled us with joy. After an hour we reached the other bank. We tanded and started for the fair. We walked about three miles. Then we reached the fair.
2. At first we went to the temple of Hariharnath to offer our prayers. There were large crowds near the temple. People were pushing one another. It was a tough (8) job to enter the temple. At last we entered the temple and offered our prayers. Then we came out and made our way with difficulty. We went to the cattle market. We saw a large number of elephants, horses, bullocks, cows, goats, and dogs. They had been brought to the fair for sale. Then we visited the bird market. We saw different kinds of birds.
We were tired and hungry. So, we went into a hotel to take food Though the food was not delicious (दिष्ट), it refreshed us. After taking our food we started going round the fair. We saw a large number of shops on either side of the roads. There were large crowds at the shops. Men, women and children were moving from one shop to another. They were buying various (विà¤िन्न) things. I bought some toys for my younger brother.
We saw some interesting sights at the fair. We were thrilled when we visited a circus show. The feats performed by animals amused us. When the show came to an end, we visited the exhibition (प्रदर्शनी) organized by the Public Relations Department. We enjoyed the exhibition. It had great educative value. It depicted (प्रदर्शित करती थी) the progress made by our State after independence.
When the evening came, the whole fair was covered with clouds of dust and smoke. We felt that it was difficult to stay at the fair any longer. So, we decided to return home.
3. We went to the railway station to catch the train. The train. was crowded. After a lot of struggle wa managed to enter a compartment. We had to keep standing. After some time the train reached Pahleza Ghat. We boarded the steamer. We reached home at midnight,
4. My visit to the fair delighted me. Though it tired me, I enjoyed It provided a change from the monotony of everyday life.
